Mr. Gil Cates, Jr. upcoming feature film Lucky will be released July 15th 2011 a film which he directed stars Colin Hanks, Jeffrey Tambor and Mimi Rogers. The film was written by Kent Sublette. The film about a wannabe serial killer that wins the lottery and pursues his lifelong crush. Mr. Cates made his motion picture producerial and directorial debut in 1991 with the feature film $pend, a serio-comic look at life, love, and addictions. Since then, he has completed The Mesmerist, A Midsummer Nights Rave, and a documentry feature Life After Tomorrow, which won Best Documentary and Best Director at the Phoenix Film Festival and had its premiere Christmas Eve 2006. Following Life, Mr Cates wrote and directed the feature film Deal. The film stars Burt Reynolds as an ex-gambler who is sucked back into the popular game of Texas Holdem. The film also stars Brett Harrison, Shannon elizabeth, Jennifer Tilly and Charles Durning and was released by MGM in the spring of 2008. Mr. Cates also made his television directorial debut in 2007 with an episode of the NBC comedy Joey.
